Enjoy the rest of this newsletter to see a few highlights, and click on the calendar below to see all events: https://www.buckheadrotary.org/calendar/view Message from the President, August 28This past Monday’s meeting was filled with great energy. We were honored to welcome our district leadership, including Governor Steve Ivory, Membership Chair Audley Knight, and Cynthia Edwards, who joined us for our meeting. And thanks to Miriam Falaki, Program Chair, for arranging for our featured guest speaker, Ricky Smith, General Manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Ricky shared his vision for rolling out strategic improvements across the busiest airport in the world, bringing real-world insight to our gathering. However, the highlight of the meeting was the induction of three new members—Molly Guenther, Joy Stanley, and Fotemah Mba! Even our guest speaker, Ricky Smith, joined in the celebration. Connect with Molly, Joy and Fotemah on LinkedIN! A warm congratulations and welcome to our newest members. We are thrilled to have you on board! Rotary on the Road! RSVP today!RSVP HERE: https://www.buckheadrotary.org/meeting/14101 LifeLine made history in 2019 by achieving a no-kill rate, where at least 90% of all pets coming into the shelter are saved. This is thanks to the community of pet lovers, adopters, fosters, volunteers, and donors! Their focus is about saving every healthy and treatable animal and making decisions that are best for every individual pet that comes into care. Please join us for lunch and a brief presentation of how shelters provide a safe place for animals. This is a unique opportunity to experience a behind the scenes tour of the state of the art 50,000-square-foot facility which is three times the size of the county's previous shelter and features a full-service vet clinic, a cat condo, designated play and adoption areas for new owners and increased capacity to house more animals. Please sign up on the calendar so we have enough food for everyone. September 18: Thirsty ThirdsdayGet ready for a sneak peek inside a fellow Rotarian’s home. No secret passwords or decoder rings required. Join us for casual conversation, drinks, and tasty nibbles, all served with a side of Rotary fellowship. In September, we are heading over to the home of Jeff and Nanette Nicholson. Don't miss out, be sure to RSVP so we can get a headcount for all the food and drinks! RSVP Here: https://www.buckheadrotary.org/reservation/create?event=8395 Join us in thanking Julie and Doug Eidson for their warm hospitality on LinkedIN! The club room made the perfect spot for light snacks, drinks, and plenty of great conversation. Thank you to everyone who joined us—it’s always a treat to connect outside of our regular meetings, and we had such a blast! This year, we're changing things up a bit. Instead of our traditional shrimp boil, we're serving up some bark-a-cue, well that’s barbecue for us humans of course! Your whole family is welcome, and yes, that includes your four-legged friends! We'll have a frisbee contest and plenty of other fun and games. Buckhead Rotary, Growing Strong TogetherI am thrilled to announce Buckhead Rotary was recognized at the most recent District 6900 membership summit for two consecutive years of net membership growth, covering the Rotary years of 2024-2025. This is a huge accomplishment and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our previous membership chair Miriam Falaki and her committee. A special congratulations to past presidents Doug Eidson and Denise Starling for their leadership, this is no small feat! Let's keep the momentum going! If you have any friends or business associates you would like to invite to a luncheon, social, or volunteer event, please reach out to our Membership Chair, Allie Geisler Allie.Geisler@td.com. Member SpotlightCongratulations to Billy Amberg and his wife Lindsey on the birth of their son on August 17th, Carter Andrews Amberg.
